Laser Hair Removal Treatment In London

The skin looks better when the hairs are removed. A smooth and soft skin looks younger and beautiful. There are many treatments for removal of the unwanted hair of the face, arms, armpits, stomach, legs, and other parts of the body. Some of the ways for hair removal are very painful, and some just cause skin irritation and swelling.
Laser hair removal is among the highly effective and proven methods for removal of the unwanted hair on any part of your body. Although some laser hair removal treatments can be painful, our new technology makes the process painless. For a successful removal of the unwanted hair is needed 6 to 10 treatments in a period of 4 to 6 weeks on average. During the treatments the hair follicles beneath the skin are destroyed.
The other methods, such as waxing, shaving, and so on, usually cause discomfort and pain, and do not provide the wanted results. They can damage the skin without removing all hairs, leaving ingrown hairs.

How does this procedure work

The hair growth is a process that contains three stages. The stages are called anagen, catagen and telogen. In the anagen phase the hair is attached to the blood supply. When the hair is in the anagen phase, then the laser treatment is the most effective. Only 20% of the hairs of the target body areas are in the anagen phase at any time, so this is the reason why at least 6 treatments are needed for best results. The laser heats the hair, and the heat destroys the follicle causing a destruction of the blood supply. If the hair is darker, the treatment will work better. This treatment destroys the follicle and prevents further growth. There are different types of lasers used according to the skin type of the patient.

What happens at the first appointment?

During the first appointment the doctor will assess the areas where the patient wants the treatment. In order for the assessment to be made, a small amount of hair should be visible. The test is done by shaving the hairs, so that the laser can be absorbed deeper into the skin. Usually, multiple tests are done in order to establish the best laser for your skin type for great results. Then the doctor determines the number of treatments and the intervals needed between sessions. Normally, the first session is performed after 24 hours after the test. Before the first treatment, the patient needs to shave the area that will be treated. There would be less and less hair after each treatment. It usually takes 2 weeks for the hairs to fall out. After that, the patient would wait for about 6 weeks so that the remaining hairs grow.

Pre-treatment advice

The treatment will be successful, if the hair is present in the follicle. This means, that the hair needs to be present before the treatment. The patient should avoid shaving, waxing, tweezing before and between the treatments. After only 1 or 2 weeks the hair will start to fall out, so some patience is required for an effective treatment. Do not bleach your hair as there is no pigment in bleached hair for the laser to target. Another factor, that should be taken into consideration for a successful treatment, is the tan. A person with a fake or real tan, or if the person has been exposed to sun within 4 weeks before the treatment, cannot be treated. You must stop any acid based products, such as Retinol, Glycolic and Salicylic, at least 1-2 weeks before each treatment. The patient must inform the practitioner in case he/she has been taking any medications or herbal supplements.
The laser removal treatment is not painful compared to waxing, for example. The treatment is performed in a premise with a cooling jet of air, so that the patient does not feel uncomfortable during the treatment. A local anaesthetic is applied to the area in case the patient feels really unpleasant. After the treatment some reddening may appear at the place where hair used to be, but it will disappear after a few minutes, maximum to 24 or 48 hours. For 2 days after each treatment, avoid exposure to the sun and do not use the gym, saunas, steam rooms. There are lasers for every skin type, so this treatment can be performed on every person.
